Emergency Lighting

 Requirement

The purpose of installing emergency lighting is to enable the building to meet fire safety legislation in a way that is visually acceptable and meets the user’s needs for ease of operation and maintenance. It is important to establish the legal requirements before commencing the design.  These should be agreed between the, user, fire authority, building control officer and system designer and installer.  Griffin Fire offer a service to help customers establish their requirements.

 Design

To meet legal requirements, the design of the system should comply with BS 5266 section 4.2, which states that when the supply to the normal lighting in occupied premises fails, escape lighting is required to fulfil the following functions:
(a) To indicate clearly and unambiguously the escape routes.
(b) To provide illumination along such routes to the exits provided.

(c) To permit operations concerned with safety measures.
(d) To ensure that fire alarm call points and fire fighting equipment provided along escape routes can be readily located.

Griffin Fire offer a professional design service to BS5266.

Installation

Griffin Fire provides a highly professional installation service for all emergency lighting systems.  The wiring of emergency luminaires should generally be in accordance with normal wiring practice (I.E.E. Wiring Regulations), statutory requirements applicable to the type of building, local by-laws and regulations.

Maintenance

To ensure systems are at full operational status Griffin Fire offer a high quality maintenance service. They will provide maintenance to BS5266 and ensure that items not part of the testing routine (consumable items such as replacement lamps, spares etc) are provided for immediate use.
